Looks great. Although I've seen a lot of controversy about the usefulness of film/photo study - some say it's great, but others state it's totally unhelpful.. I'm at a loss really...

I don't really see how it could't be useful; it's essentially life drawing combined with environment study and colour and light practice... So long as you aren't colour picking and obviously do the sketch yourself it's extremely useful! Also handy for improving your flow and speed, especially if you set deadlines.

well, people argue that if you draw a 2d image from another 2d image and not real life - you are just copying lines and not actually building shapes..
